Finding work in Vietnam? Help would be much appreciated

Hello,

My name is Sinan and I will be travelling to Thailand in August and then perhaps to Vietnam in September, I would like to find work there. I have a TEFL and a couple of months of teaching experience- I also have one years experience in a University in England undertaking a course in Money, Banking and Finance- however I am in the midst of changing my course.

I am from England.

What kind of work do you think I could find.

Hi Shabani, you only need to post once! You can also start your own thread.

There are a handful of South Africans living and working in Vietnam that I know of. I would suggest to most people who are intent on living in Vietnam to just fly here, go to lots of networking events, and find a job that way.

Hi Sinan,
As your infomation, you have TEFL and teaching experience, that's your advantage. As you notice on saigonist.com, I have post some English school website so you can apply online in advance and make sure that you have a job prior coming to Vietnam. In other hand, the school will sponsor for your living here. That's the best job with high salary for foreigner staying in Vietnam. After settle down here, you can find other jobs that have higher salary such as teaching in international school (RMIT, Huflit ....) in your major subject (banking, finance, business management...), it depends on your strenght and hobbies.

Where is Saigon?

It's not wrong to wonder where in the world Saigon is.

Saigon is the name of the city now officially known as Ho Chi Minh City. But most people who call Saigon home call their home Saigon and it's mostly tourists who I hear refer to it as Ho Chi Minh City (or Ho Chi Minh Ville for the French).

After the Vietnam/American War ended in 1975, many place names ceased to exist such as Saigon, South Vietnam, and plenty of street names.

Tu Do is now Dong Khoi, Thong Nhat is Le Duan. And Tan Son Nhut Airport is now Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Rue Paul Blanchy has been Hai Ba Trung since the 1950s.

Those who haven't seen Vietnam for decades will be confused not just by the geographical changes but the incredible amount of development and modernization that has since taken place.
